Deta arrived from Jamaica in the UK on 30th January 1973 , her introduction to darts was through chalking games for her brothers, she soon progressed to playing and was soon playing Super League and then Ladies County Darts for Essex Deta was selected to represent "ENGLAND" on no less than 10 occasions winning 8 of her matches.
Deta retired in 1997 at the top of the rankings for 5 years due to work commitments and made a comeback with the PDC in 2002, playing in a tournament in Canada reaching the SeminFinals, she then went on to win the Vegas Desert Classic in 2002,2003 in 2005 she was runner-up | Deta also qualified in both 2004 and 2005 for the UK Open at the Reebok Stadium on 2005 finished tie 33rd. The First and Only Lady to date to have ever achieved this.
From 2006 -2008 Deta once again took time out to concentrate on her work commitments: Deta is now back, facing fresh challenges with a determination to attain new titles and qualify for the Lakeside Championships at Lakeside. |
Deta ambitions are to prove at the age of 50 years old she can achieve top rankings again and win major tournaments.
To play in the World Championships at Lakeside, as this opportunity was not available to her while she playing in the BDO.
